Suzanne Storrie Appointed as Board Chair and Professor Michael Boyer Appointed as CEO
Professor Michael Boyer, a distinguished member of our board and a longstanding contributor to the success of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, has been named as the new CEO. Following an extensive global search, the Board is excited to announce this appointment. Professor Boyer’s extensive experience and commitment to our mission will ensure the seamless continuity of our operations as we embark on the next decade of providing comprehensive cancer care and services.
Professor Boyer has been an integral part of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse since its inception and has consistently demonstrated his dedication to our cause. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010, reflecting his roles as an educator, clinical trials researcher, and his involvement in the development of integrated care facilities for cancer patients. Throughout his career, Professor Boyer served as the director of the Sydney Cancer Centre and as the former area director of Cancer Services for the Sydney South West Area Health Service. Additionally, he is a clinical professor within the Central Clinical School of the University of Sydney and holds the position of Conjoint Chair of Medical Oncology and Thoracic Oncology. He has been our Chief Clinical Officer since 2013.
Furthermore, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne Storrie as the Chair of the Board. She brings a wealth of leadership experience from her extensive corporate career as a senior finance and operations executive where she led strategic technology and transformational change in complex, highly regulated and high profile industries (financial services, sport, aviation, construction, technology). Her previous board roles include Surf Life Saving Australia, Jarden Australia Advisory Board, The McGrath Foundation, The University of Sydney Business School Advisory Board, St Joseph’s College Foundation, Commonwealth Bank Group Superannuation Fund, Supply Nation, and Qantas Superannuation Fund). In 2016, Suzanne was recognised as one of the Australian Financial Review/Westpac Top 100 Women of Influence (Boards and Management) and in 2019 was awarded ISG’s Australia and New Zealand Paragon Leadership Award and life membership of Surf Life Saving Australia. Her leadership and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
