Welcome to the Upper Gastro-Intestinal (GI) Service at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. We provide comprehensive cancer screening and exclusion services for patients with conditions affecting the upper gastrointestinal system, including the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, and liver.

The Rapid Access Endoscopy Service

The Rapid Access Endoscopy (RAE) Service based at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is a streamlined cancer screening and cancer exclusion service (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). This service minimises harmful waiting times and test-related anxiety by delivering diagnostic procedures within one to two weeks of referral.

A Gastroscopy is an examination of the upper digestive tract (the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum) using an endoscope — a long, thin, flexible tube containing a camera and a light — to view the lining of these organs.

Patient Information

If you would like to undertake your cancer treatment with us, you will first need to become a patient of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. To do this, your GP or specialist will need to refer you to see one of our Chris O’Brien Lifehouse specialists.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

The referral process is easy:

Your GP or specialist can select a doctor from our list of specialists.
Your GP or specialist can then fill in our Chris O’Brien Lifehouse referral form or send a standard referral letter.

Your GP or specialist will submit your referral directly to Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.

Research

If you wish to participate in a clinical trial, speak with your treating oncologist or GP to see if there are current trials you may be suitable for.
