Newtown Mum Jo Wallace asked her son’s teacher if it would help if she came to speak to his class about her experience with cancer. She approached her doctor, Lifehouse surgeon Dr Trevor Tejada-Berjes to see if he might be able to join her.
The children were able to understand what cancer actually is and that it’s not something you can catch from other people. Many of them went home and talked to their families about it and from there, a fundraiser and huge community school event was born.
Lesley Robinson from The 7.30 Report, ABC News tells Jo’s story.
