Dr Pokorny is a medical oncologist at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse with a focus on thoracic and head and neck cancers. After graduating from medical school in Newcastle, he completed his medical oncology training in Sydney. Before joining Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, he worked at the Royal Darwin Hospital and continues to visit Alice Springs Hospital regularly. Dr Pokorny is a member of the Medical Services Advisory Committee and the Economics Sub-Committee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee within the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care. He also holds a PhD in ethics and health policy from the University of Sydney, where he examined the interactions between cancer physicians and the pharmaceutical industry.
