Afshin obtained his medical degree in 1994. He then worked for the UN for two years as a full time doctor in a refugee camp. After surgical training he was trained in Emergency Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He completed further training with the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgeons in addition to a Diploma of Dermatology and a Diploma in Skin Cancer Medicine with the Australasian College of Dermatologists. He is an Accredited Skin Cancer specialist doctor with Diploma of Dermoscopy and Diploma of Skin Cancer from Skin Cancer College Australasia . He is also Board Certified by the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. His interests include skin cancer, aesthetic medicine and Dermatology, laser procedures and phlebology. He is working as an Accredited Skin Cancer doctor in Chris O’brien Lifehouse and also seeing patients from Asylum Seekers Centre in Newtown.
