A/Prof. Pulitano, has special expertise in Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive Surgery) and HepatoPancreaticoBiliary (Liver, Pancreas and Bile Duct) surgery and laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive Surgery).
A/Prof. Pulitano graduated from Medical School in Milan and undertook 6-year general surgical training in Milan, Paris, and Edinburgh.
He moved to Sydney in 2011 for a clinical fellowship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he worked for nearly 3 years.
This was followed by a PhD at University of Sydney in the area of liver surgery and transplantation.
After this, Carlo sought after more in depth training in complex surgery, so, he completed a second fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Organ Transplantation surgery at the Toronto General Hospital in Canada.
Following his fellowship in Toronto, he was appointed as consultant at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and associate professor at the University of Sydney.
A/Prof.Pulitano is an avid researcher having published more than 115 peer-reviewed articles and received more than 18 awards including the John Mitchell Crouch Fellowship, the most prestigious award of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
His area of research include liver, gallbladder, pancreatic and neuroendocrine tumors, transplantation, and surgical techniques.
He is the director of the RPA Translation Center for Organ Assessment, Repair, and Optimization (COARO) and Center for Advanced Research in Liver Pancreas and Biliary Surgery (CARLS).
He is also one of the doctors responsible for the transplant oncology program at RPA.
